Cast into Tartarus by the Unnaming, a forgotten divinity survives on a single spark. Fight upward through ruined temples, drowned crossings and storm-torn heights to reclaim your place among the gods.
The Unseated is a single-player, side-scrolling action roguelite with detailed pixel art and an atmospheric, Amiga-inspired soundtrack. Explore, build power and keep moving as enemy pressure grows with every active minute.
Eight divinities. Eight realms. One throne.
- Unlock eight heroes: begin as Pyra, then earn new characters through successful ascents. Every hero has four distinct abilities and a different way to fight.
- Ascend through eight realms: jump between terraces, climb ladders and ropes, and battle each realm's guardian. At the final Pantheon, collect four keys and enter a sealed throne chamber.
- Face more than 100 enemy types and nine exclusive bosses: contend with mythical creatures, elite foes, varied projectiles and powerful area attacks.
- Build with 25 stackable Offerings: strengthen attacks, reshape movement and combine effects as your run develops.
- Rewrite the rules with Decrees: discover concealed shrines to unlock permanent options for future runs. Combine discovered Decrees to make every ordinary foe an elite, trade health for rechargeable shields, and more.
- Choose your challenge: play on Easy, Normal, Hard or Extreme
The Pit remembers your best.
Complete an ascent on Normal or higher to unlock THE PIT, a tall, narrow endless arena. There is no Ascension Gateway. Enemy pressure keeps rising, the roster expands, and guardians descend into the fight.
Survive longer, defeat more enemies and bring down guardians to chase your local high score. Your record keeps its hero, difficulty and selected Decrees, with personal records for individual rulesets too.
Try the free demo
The standalone one-level demo lets you play as Pyra or Neris in Tartarus and challenge its gateway guardian. It uses a separate save folder from the full game.
Playing on Windows
Windows 64-bit download. $6.99 USD. Extract the entire ZIP into a folder, then launch TheUnseated.exe. Keep the executable and its accompanying files together. Godot Engine does not need to be installed.
Play with keyboard and mouse or a compatible controller. On-screen prompts follow the active input device. Unlocks, discoveries, preferences and personal records persist between attempts; active runs do not save or resume.
English interface and text. Single player. THE PIT scores are local personal records.
Content: fantasy combat, injury and death vocalizations, and defeated character and enemy remains.
Development disclosure
This game was developed with AI assistance, including programming and writing assistance, image generation for game and promotional artwork, and instrumental soundtrack generation with Suno. Generated assets were prepared during development and are included locally; the game does not use a live generative-AI service while you play.
